Sri Sthambha Ganapati Temple is also known as the Kambadha Ganapati Shrine. Sri Ahinava Narasimha Bharati, the 24th Acharya, carved the image of Lord Ganesha with a piece of turmeric. The pillar on which this image has been carved is solid, while the granite stone behind Ganesha’s image is hollow. The temple was reconstructed by Puttayappa, the disciple of the Acharya, in 1621.

Balasubrahmanya Swami temple was consecrated in 1978 by Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamigal. Lord Muruga appears in this posture in the temple. Later some poor people (Aandi) were worshipping Him. A devotee on his pilgrimage stayed here and wanted to have a bath and worship the Lord and asked the Aandis for a river or well. They said there is none such nearby. A little boy came there, took the traveler to a place and punched the earth with Vel at a place. A spring came up and the traveler’s joy knew no bounds. Lord Muruga granted darshan to him and stayed as Lord Balasubramanya.

Sri Malahanikareshwara Temple has a linga that was worshipped by the Paramarishi Vibhandaka son of Kashyapa is known as Sri Malahanikaresvara (destroyer of the impurities of the soul) and is worshipped even today. He did penance here, had the vision of the Lord and united the Lord in the Linga and disappeared from the mortal world. It is an udhbhava linga. The temple structure is a fine piece of architecture, consisting of a navaranga, an antarala, a garbhagrha and with relieves on the pillars. The deities inside the temple are Lord Malahanikareshvara, Goddess Bhavani, Sthambha Ganapati, Chandikeshvara, Ganapati, and Durga.

The Kalabhairava idol is a small idol with a prabhavali. He is holing a khadga (sword), damaru, trishula and a munda (human head) in his four hands and wears sandals and anklets. The dog his vahana (mount) is behind. The flowery garland etched in stone is very beautiful. This is a small shrine with a garbhagriha, an antarala and an open canopy which was constructed in the recent times. It has a gopuram and a shikara.
The divine vahana(mount) of kala bhairava is a dog, which motivates the devotee to do bhuta yajn~a – duty towards animals, loving and caring.

Bus : KSRTC (State Owned Transport) operates buses from all major cities to Shringere and Shimoga. Tickets can be booked from online vendors, KSRTC offices or online. There are also a good number of buses and private transport from Shimoga town to Sringeri.

Train : Kundapura (KUDA) is nearest major railway station on Konkan Railway route. Road distance is less than 75km. Traveling options are private taxi and Govt.(KSRTC)/Private buses also there from Kundapura city. Shimoga is another nearer railway station and road distance around 115km.

Air : Nearest airport is Mangalore (110km from Sringeri). Spice Jet / Jet operate this route from Bangalore. Ticket costs range between INR 1800 – 5000.
