Since the sixteenth century, Canso has been a strategically necessary piscary base. it’s aforementioned that the harbour of Canso was frequented by European fur traders and fishermen among a dozen years of the arrival of Columbus in America, and an effort at settlement was created here as early as 1518. Acadian Governor Razill designed a fortified post, Fort Saint-Francois at Canso with St. Nicholas lupus erythematosus Creux, Sieur du Breuil as lieutenant.
