Cancuén is Associate in Nursing archeologic website of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization, placed within the Pasión subregion of the central Maya lowlands within the current Guatemalan Department of El Petén. The town is notable for having one amongst the most important palaces within the Maya World.
Cancuén was a significant town throughout the Classic amount, reaching its peak throughout the seventh century. The town was a significant trade center, specializing in jade, iron pyrite and volcanic glass. Its strategic position on the watercourse Pasion helped it dominate exchange the region. Tajal Chan Ahk, one amongst the city’s most powerful rulers, engineered the city’s palace in 770 A.D. The palace coated nearly twenty three,000 sq.
