Detail InformationEdit

The Caltech Submillimeter Observatory (CSO) could be a ten.4-metre (34 ft) diameter submillimeter wavelength telescope placed aboard the 15-metre (49 ft) James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) at volcano Observatory. It’s engaged in submillimeter uranology, of the rate radiation band.
The CSO and JCMT were combined to make the primary submillimeter measuring system. The success of this experiment was necessary in pushing ahead the development of the Submillimeter Array and also the Atacama giant millimetre Array interferometers. On April thirty, 2009, Caltech declared plans to call back the CSO, transferring in progress analysis to the next-generation Cerro Chajnantor Atacama Telescope (CCAT) in Chile. The plans incorporate CSO to be demolished starting in 2016, with its web site came to a state by 2018.
