Cakovec is a city in northern Croatia, located around 90 kilometres north of Zagreb, the Croatian capital. Čakovec is both the county seat and largest city of Međimurje County, the northernmost, smallest and most densely populated Croatian county. The city administrative area of Čakovec includes the following settlements:
The adjacent villages of Belica, Nedelišće, Pribislavec, Strahoninec and Šenkovec are seats of separate municipalities, although they are all located within 5 kilometres of the city’s centre. The total population of the city’s metropolitan area, with all of the aforementioned villages is approximately 45,000.
