Detail InformationEdit
Butler University is a private university located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded in 1855 and named after founder Ovid Butler, the university offers 60 degree programs to 4,400 students through six colleges: business, communication, education, liberal arts and sciences, pharmacy and health sciences, and fine arts. It comprises a 290-acre (1.2 km2) campus located 7 miles (11 km) from downtown Indianapolis.Butlers’s athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are collectively known as the Butler Bulldogs. On July 1, 2012, the Bulldogs will leave the Horizon League, their conference home since 1979, for the Atlantic 10 Conference. Since the A10 does not sponsor football, the Butler football team plays in the FCS’s Pioneer League. Butler’s women’s golf team will also remain outside the A10, as that conference sponsors the sport only for men.
