The ruins of wind Hague, also known as the Old Palace Windhaag is about five hundred yards east of the center of the municipality in the district Windhaag at Perg Perg Mühlviertel in Upper Austria.
In contrast to that of Joachim Enzmilner nearby and erected 1681 by his daughter completely ruined castle new Windhaag the old castle has been preserved as a ruin, was founded in 1990 acquired by the municipality Windhaag and has since been utilized for tourism purposes. In 2011 the construction of a staircase structure in the restored castle keep is provided so that in future a viewing platform is available.
In the old castle, the monastery was established in 1664 Windhaag and Eva Magdalena, Enzmilners only child, used as first prioress. She inherited after his death the rule Windhaag including a new and old castle. She left after the death of her father demolish the recently completed New Castle Windhaag again and use the stones as building material for the new Dominican convent Windhaag in the center of today’s wind Hague. Later in the old castle inhabited only the confessor of the nuns, the clerk of the court judge and. 1734 collapsed part of the castle and the building was a ruin.
The castle was a Gothic Windhaag defensive structure. It was surrounded by a ditch and had a castle keep. The gate at the back of the castle is called Münzbachertor because it is on the way to Münzbach. The plan is to keep the repair as far as to put that it can be climbed.
