The ruins of Stauf is a hilltop castle in the Upper Austrian town of Haibach Eferding in the district. The medieval site was in the 12th Century, probably by de Wernhard Stove, an ancestor of the Earls of Schauberg, founded and developed by an aristocratic dominion to the administrative center seat, which has been adopted by several nurses. The castle was built as a family residence, before the Schauberger headquartered at the State Theater mountain was moved, so that Stauf now only a minor castle was the family.
The ruin is situated at an altitude of 531 meters above sea &nsb; at the southeastern end of a narrow ridge that leads to one side and on the other Aschach into the creek ditch liners. It belongs to the type of the summit castle. Below the complex is a nature reserve is of oak, hornbeam, gorge, boulder fields and beech woods. The climb to the castle is from the north and the east side of possible.
An observation deck on the roof of the turret allows the views to the Danube, in good weather it is sufficient to Linz. In the southeast lies within sight of the ruins of the castle show mine.
Stauf at the Castle is a medieval system, the core of a castle keep and includes a great hall and on a 12.5 × 25-foot plateau stands. To the east lie the remains of a large outer bailey. A small plateau northwest of the plant suggests that there once existed a Vorwerk. In the southeast of the castle by a six meter deep section is secured ditch.
The majority of break-out and built Klaubsteinen, unadorned brickwork probably dates from the first half of the 14th Century, has only the foundation of the main tower with a short section of the 12th/13th Century preserved .
