Detail InformationEdit
The Buksefjord electricity powerhouse is that the initial and largest electricity powerhouse in Gronland. It had been engineered by Nuuk-Kraft and it’s operated by Nukissiorfiit – Greenland’s national energy company. Construction of the plant was approved by the Parliament of Gronland in 1990. It had been commissioned in 1993.
Unconventionally, the facility station is placed 600 metres (2,000 ft) within a mountain and it consists of fourteen kilometres (8.7 mi) of tunnels. The higher reservoir, Kang Lake, is placed 249 metres (817 ft) over the ocean level at Buksefjord. Because of damming and deep water, it’s a complete effective volume of one.9 three-dimensional kilometres (0.46 cu mi), that is sixfold quite the annual water consumption by the plant. From the lake, a 10.5-kilometre (6.5 mi) long water pressure tunnel runs right down to the plant.
Originally, the plant had 2 turbines with capability of fifteen MW every. In 2008, a 3rd rotary engine with an equivalent capability was put in.The generated power is transferred to Nuuk over 57-kilometre (35 mi) long Buksefjord–Nuuk cable, which incorporates the Ameralik Span, the World’s longest span.
