The Buffalo Savings Bank could be a neoclassic, Beaux–Arts vogue bank branch building placed at one Fountain Plaza in downtown Buffalo, New York.The Buffalo Savings depository opened in could 1901. The building’s signature feature is that the gold-leafed dome, that measures twenty three feet tall and fifty six feet in diameter. It’s coated with thirteen,500 terra-cotta tiles. The tiles originally were overlaid with copper, that took on a green hue.The tiles are gilded 3 times. The last restoration needed a hundred and forty,000 paper-thin sheets of twenty three.75-carat gold foil at a value $500,000.The building contains a 9-foot (2.7 m) clock higher than the most colonnaded entrance. In 1982, the first depository received a bigger coupled addition on the side referred to as M & T Center (not to be confused with One M&T Plaza). In 1991, the Buffalo Savings Bank company became insolvent and was dissolved. The building presently is a branch of M&T Bank and has been selected a town of Buffalo Landmark.Key Center North Tower and Key Center South Tower ar across Main Street from the building. The electrical Tower is to the southeast.
