The Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS), supported in 1863, could be a depository, library, and academic center conserving and inspiring the study of Brooklyn’ s made 400-year past. Set at 128 Pierrepoint Street on the corner of Clinton Street within the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, ny town it homes materials about the history of Brooklyn and its folks. These holdings provide exhibitions illuminating the past and informing the long run. BHS hosts over nine,000 members of the overall public at its exhibitions every year.In addition to general programming, BHS serves over seventy,000 public college students and academics annually by providing exhibit tours, academic programs and curricula, and creating its skilled workers offered for instruction and consultation. The Society’s headquarters building could be a National Historic Landmark designed by patron saint B. Post and made in 1878-81 for what was then named the Long Island Historical Society, that became the Brooklyn Historical Society in 1985.
