With the opening of several new hotels and restaurants mostly by Lebanese immigrants, Brazzaville now is an excellent stopover for tourists wanting to visit Pointe Noire and the Congolese Rainforests. This thriving African city is offering numerous local places of tourist interest like the Palais du Peuple built in 1901, the Basilique Sainte-Anne of the Congo, the Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza Memorial and the ethnic markets of Moungali, Poto-Poto and Bacongo.
Brazzaville is a fast developing modern Central African town now providing for several recreational sports facilities like tennis and golf. Although photographic and other tourist requisites are available, usually at double the normal prices, Brazzaville, which is home to the Maya Maya Airport and also an important river port providing ferry services to Kinshasa and Bangui serves as an essential tourist destination and base for visitors desiring to explore these regions.
