Braunwald is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Effective from 1 January 2011, Braunwald is part of the municipality of Glarus Süd. Braunwald is first mentioned in 1421 as Brunwald. It is situated on a terrace above the Linth valley at 1,256 meters (4,121 ft) in the Glarus Alps.
