Home to large number of pink flamingoes, Bonaire also features the only barefoot casino within the Caribbean. Now being promoted as a special municipality within the country of the Netherlands, the local economy of this island is completely based on tourism. Ringed by a healthy coral reef where sea-horses can occasionally be found, the adjacent uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire which is extremely popular with the tourists is very well preserved. The mainland of Bonaire which is home to a donkey sanctuary and the mountainous Washington Slagbaai National Park displays an exquisite landscape that will charm you on this Caribbean holiday. Spread over a 288 square kilometer area, Bonaire Island is situated outside the hurricane belt, and is well served by the Flamingo International Airport.
