Recognized as the second largest city in Sierra Leone, Bo is an ideal stopping point on your way to other tourist destinations. Untouched by civil war, Bo Town is part of the Sierra Leone area where small scale mining of diamond is permitted. Located at a distance of 230 kilometers to the southeast of Freetown on a road which is excellently paved, Bo is the leading educational, commercial and transportation hub of Sierra Leone.
Featuring several hotels, bars and restaurants which make it a popular touristic stopover in Sierra Leone, Bo residents are well known for their resolve, resistance and hospitality. Like numerous other parts of the country, Bo has a tropical climate where the unrelenting heat and humidity can often make living unpleasant. Home to large groups of Muslims, Christians and the Liberian community, Bo is also served by the Bo Airport which is connected through regular flights to Freetown and other major Sierra Leone cities.
