Block Island is a component of the U.S. State of Rhode Island and is found within the Atlantic around thirteen miles (21 km) south of the coast of Rhode Island, fourteen miles (23 km) east of Montauk purpose on island, and is separated from the Rhode Island land by Block Island Sound.
