Bishop may be a town in Inyo County, California, u. S.. Tho’ Bishop is that the solely town and also the largest inhabited place in Inyo County, the seat is Independence. Bishop is found close to the northern finish of the Owens depression, at associate elevation of 4147 feet (1264 m). The population was three,879 at the 2010 census, up from 3,575 at the 2000 census. The city was named when Bishop Creek, flowing out of the Sierra Nevada: the creek was named when prophet Addison Bishop, a settler within the Owens depression.
