Bikaner reveals that the establishment of the kingdom was foretold by the mystic Karni Mata. It was in the year 1488 that the founder of the city, Rao Bikaji fortified the city that was called the city. Is one of the most frequented desert cities of the state of Rajasthan. The geography of reveals the topographic location of the region. The settlement has developed outside the fortified city. Vegetation of the region comprises of the sparse growth of the desert vegetation. With the construction of the Ganga canal, it has been possible for the people to engage in the agricultural production of other crops in the green area of city.

By Air : There is no airport in Bikaner. The nearest airport to Bikaner is Jodhpur, which is nearly 250 km away. This is a domestic airport, connecting to metros in India and some few other cities in North. Taxi fare is about Rs 2,000 from Jodhpur to Bikaner. Jodhpur airport : 0291 251 2934.
By Train : The city has two railway stations, namely, Bikaner Junction and Lalgarh Railway Station. Bikaner railway station is well connected to the cities of Delhi (Bkn Dee S F Exp), Jodhpur(Klk Bme Express), Jaipur (Bkn Jp Intercit), Kalka(Barmer Klk Exp), and Bhatinda (Adi Jat Express). Bikaner Express and Bikaner Mail are commonly preferred trains. Bikaner railway station: 0151-2523131,2523132.
By BUS : Plenty of bus services are available from Bikaner to Delhi, Jodhpur, Agra, Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Udaipur and Kota. State owned bus tariff is about Rs 1.5 per km and luxury coaches charges Rs 3 per km.
By Taxi : Bikaner is well connected by a road network and national highways. The tourist can reach to Bikaner by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.
