The town is situated in the north-eastern part of County Fejér. By car between Budapest and Tatabánya, beside the motorway M7. It’ s been town since 1986. Bicske was mentioned first in 1270. Count Lajos Batthyány had the Castle of the Batthyány-family constructed in 1754-55. Later Tivadar Batthyány inherited the building and he had it reconstructed between 1796-1799 into late-baroque and early-clasicist style. Since then the castle is U-shaped, two-storey one. Sights: Batthyány-Castle (ceremonical hall, castleyard, castle park). The castle and the park can be visited on previous request. Statue Lajos Kossuth, Reformed Church, Catholic Church (in baroque style), Herois square, Herois monument, former Hill-castle (Observatory), Mausoleum of Károly Nagy, Vajda statue Events: Bicske Days (in May: concerts, exhibitions); Castle Evenings (from end of June to middle of August: theatrical performances, operetts).
