Bhuntar is a town in the Kullu district of the state of Himchal Pradesh and it is the gateway to the towns of Kullu and Manali. Bhuntar is one of the main places in the region and there are various sites that one can visit in the area. Much like the other parts of the state, the town is also surrounded by greenery. Some of the places that tourists frequent near the town of Bhuntar are Jagan Nath Temple and Bijli Mahadev Temple. The Mahadev temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is one of the most striking buildings located in the region and is worth visiting while travelling to the town of Bhuntar.The famous town of Kullu is located near Bhuntar and this is located around 10 km away. This is a must see when you are staying at Bhuntar. Bajaura is a village that is located near the Bhuntur Airport and there is a temple located here called the Basheshwar Temple and it has many carvings and sculptures. You can also opt for white water rafting in the River Beas which flows near the village of Bajaura. A camping site is located near the town as well and this is a good place to stay during the summer.

Bhuntar is a town located in the district of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. Located at an elevation of around 2050 m above sea level, Bhuntar is counted among the prominent destinations of the state. Also, known as the gateway to the Kullu Valley, this town is of great historical and religious importance. The history of Bhuntar is similar to that of Noah in the holy book of Christianity, The Bible. According to the legend, Manu, who is believed to be the founder of civilisation, had established a democratic council in Bhuntar for the Hindu deities. These deities were responsible for governing the people living in the society. The destination is known for various Hindu religious centres such as the Basheshwar Mahadev Temple, the Jagannath Temple, the Adi Brahma Temple, and the Bijli Mahadev Temple. Another popular temple here is the Triyug Narayan Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god of preservation, Vishnu. It is an ancient temple constructed in 800 A.D., located at a distance of around 12 km from Bhuntar.

By Air : The town has the only airport on the region and this is located just outside the place. The airport is connected to places such as Shimla and Delhi. If you are arriving from an international destination, then you can opt for a connecting flight from Delhi. Taxis are available outside the airport and they charge around Rs 300 to reach the town. It might be possible to negotiate the fare.
By Train : One can opt to arrive at the Chandigarh station from many parts of the country and hire for a taxi to the town of Bhuntar. Tickets prices from Delhi to Chandigarh are around Rs 100 for a second class compartment. Taxis are available at the station and they cost around Rs 7 per km for a small sedan.

Mela Bhuntar ; Venue: Bhunter ; Period : (June-July) ; Details: The fair is held on 1st Ashad (June-July) for 3 days in village Bhunter. The fair is seasonal and religious. The fair was started by the Devta of the ilaqua Suraj Pal. Palaghmiar a Devta from mardo also attends. From this day the use of food grains from the newly harvested crops starts after cooked food offerings are made to the gods and then the meal is shared by other relatives and friends. This is known as ‘Tahoolikhana’ in the local terminology.
Pipal Jatra/ Vasantotsava ; Venue: Dhalpur ; Period : April every year ; Details: The traditional name of Vasantotasava is Pipal Jatra or it is also called Rai-ri-Jach. It takes place at Dhalpur, Kullu on 16th Baisakh every year. The Raja of Kullu was used to sit in front of the ‘Kala Kendra’ on a raised platform of Pipal Tree alongwith his courtiers and the traditional dance was held in front of him.
