Bhandarej is an ancient village that is located in the Dausa district of the state of Rajasthan and the village has been in existence since the 11th century. The village has a history of producing some unique pieces of pottery with terracotta and also many unique sculptures and lattice work. Many tourists who visit the village are attracted by the fine carpets and pottery that is made here. There are many archeological sites that are located in the village as well and these are also interesting places to visit. Excavation continues even today in the remnants of the medieval village under the care of the archeological survey of India. The village of Bhandarej has a long tribal heritage and one can visit the many village homes as well. Camel rides and safaris that are conducted using jeeps can be arranged from the village and this is an option for those who are adventure oriented. The sanctuaries of Sariska, Baratpur and Ranthambor are easily accessible from the village of Bhandarej as well. Another place to visit in the village is the Bhandarej Baodi that is a step well with many carvings and pictures of wildlife. This three story structure has many domes and sculptures as well. The climatic conditions in the village of Bhandarej are similar to many of the desert regions of the state of Rajasthan. The conditions in the village can be classified as extreme and inhospitable for most of the year. Summers experience constant heat that can be stifling. Winters are cold and dry and the best time to visit the place is during the months of October to March.

Bhandarej is a small village located around 62 kms away from the “Pink City” of Jaipur in Rajasthan. With a colorful history dating back to the 11th century, Bhandarej is also home to many temples and monuments dating back to the pre-medieval period. Bhandarej is located in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, right on the Jaipur – Agra highway. With many delightful sights and sounds surrounding it, Bhandarej is indeed a delightful place to explore. The village also has a rich tribal presence that is sure to fascinate any visitor. Meanwhile, Bhandarej is also an excellent gateway to the wildlife sanctuaries of Bharatpur, Sariska and Ranthambore.

By Air : For those travelers who are travelling by flight, the Jaipur airport is an ideal choice. The international airport is located around 70 km from the village of Bhandarej. Frequent flights are available from Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and many other cities. Some flights from the Middle East also operate to the Jaipur airport. Taxis stands are located outside the airport and you can hire them at a cost of Rs 7 per km.

By Train : The nearest railway station is at city of Ajmer. Another major railhead is also located at Jaipur. The Jaipur station is an important station in the state. The station is well connected to most of the important cities around the country and also has good connectivity within the state to places such Udaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer. Trains are popular and hence reservations need to be made in advance.

By BUS : The nearest bus stand is also located at12 kms from Dausa Bus Stand.

By Taxi : The town is located around 60 km from the city of Jaipur and this the closest major city to the village of Bhandarej. If you are travelling to the town the most suitable option is to hire a taxi from Jaipur.
