Bhadrachalam, a temple city in the state of Andhra Pradesh is a renowned pilgrim centre in South India. The history of this city is associated solely by the events of the Ramayan. It is said that this was the place where Bhadrachalam stands is the place where Ram crossed the Godavari River during his quest to save Sita. By Air : Nearest airport to Bhadrachalam is Rajamundri domestic Airport. Nearest International airports are at Hyderabad and Chennai airports which are about 325 km away from Bhadrachalam. It costs about Rs 4000 by Taxi from Hyderabad or Chennai to the city Bhadrachalam. Hyderabad and Chennai airports are well connected to all major cities in India and abroad.

By Train : Nearest Railway station is at Bhadrachalam Road station, also known as Kothagudem. It is 40 km from the Bhadrachalam city and taxi will cost about Rs 500 from railhead to the city.

By BUS : From Khammam, It is better to go catch a Bus for Bhadrachalam. Direct rail connectivity from khammam doesn’t exists. 2.5 Hours journey from Khammam to Bhadrachalam by bus.

By Taxi : From here you can hire a taxi to reach Bhadrachalam.

Vykuntha Ekadasi ; Venue:  Bhadrachalam ; Period :  December or January ; Details:  Two major festivals are being celebrated every year which were introduced and traditionally celebrated right from the tenure of Bhakta Ramadas. “Vykuntha Ekadasi” a religious festival that attracts lakhs(hundred thousand) of devotees from all over the country at this famous shrine Bhadrachalam, is celebrated in the months of either December or January in ‘Dhanur Masam’ on the day of either Pushya or Margasira shuddha Ekadasi.

Sri Rama Navami ; Venue:  Bhadrachalam ; Period :  March or first week of April. ; Details:  Another major festival, Sri Rama Navami(the most popular one at Bhadrachalam) is being celebrated on every ‘Chaitra shuddha navami ‘ on the auspicious ‘Punarvasu’ -‘Janma Nakshatra’ (birth star), of Lord Sri Rama. The Kalyanamahotsavam of Sri Rama with his consort Sita is celebrated on the holy occasion which falls either in the last week of March or first week of April.
