Bethoncourt is a commune in the Doubs department in the Franche Comte region in eastern France. Bethoncourt lies north of Montbeliard, close to the border with the Haute Saone department and the Territoire de Belfort. The Lizaine, formerly called the Luzine, flows through it. Bethoncourt possessed rich iron mines that provided ore for all the foundries in the region in such towns as Chagey and Audincourt.
