The place of worship African Methodist Episcopal Church in Iowa town, Iowa was in-built 1868 to serve a preponderantly African-American congregation. Originally known as Zion AME, place of worship is one in every of Iowa town’s oldest frame homes and also the oldest extant structure related to African Americans in Iowa City. The initial church is 600 sq. Feet (56 m2) and has area for fifty individuals. A new 4,000-square-foot (370 m2) sanctuary is being designed which can hold thrice the present congregation size.
