Battle Ground may be a town in Clark County, Washington, us. The town is ironically named for the absence of a battle. In 1855 several of the troopers at close Fort Vancouver were away fighting associate degree insurrection by the Yakima Indian tribe. Nervous settlers organized a corporation of volunteers to protect the understaffed fort. Fearing that the friendly Klickitat Tribe on the Lewis stream would be a part of the insurrection, the volunteers ordered them into the Vancouver Barracks close to the fort.
