Barcarena is a provoação over 5,500 years located in Oeiras. It is the seat of the parish of the same name, a parish Portuguese municipality of Oeiras , with 9.01 km ² and 13,861 inhabitants (2011). Density: 1 538.4 inhabitants / km ².The village or place of Barcarena has 1644 inhabitants (2001).
The village of Barcarena extends along the shores east and west of the river with the same name, located in the deepest part of the valley, a quota of 58 meters on the sea level. It is flanked by two symmetrical slopes, are two hills about 130 feet high, situated either on the eastern side, both in the west of the town while the valley stretches from north to south, towards the Tagus estuary, taking Cape Espichel the horizon and the routes to the south coast of Portugal.Barcarena is served by the transport company VIMECA .
