Baldwin town originally began as a path stop on the Santa Fe path named wine palm. the tiny city consisted of a harness look, blacksmith, hotel, lawyer, drug store, post workplace, 2 doctors and a edifice. In 1858, a bunch of Methodist ministers gathered at Kibbee Cabin and based Baker University. The city of wine palm bought land to the south for the university and close town. A main good person was John Baldwin and therefore the city was named in his honor. Baldwin designed a saw mill that was settled at current Fifth and IN Streets.
