Baglihar Dam also known as Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project, is a run-of-the-river power project on the Chenab River in the southern Doda district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This project was conceived in 1992, approved in 1996 and construction began in 1999. The project is estimated to cost USD $1 billion. The first phase of the Baglihar Dam was completed in 2004. With the second phase completed on 10 October 2008, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India dedicated the 900-MW Baglihar hydroelectric power project to the nation.

BUS : Buses to the town of Patnitop can be taken from Pathankot, Jammu and Srinagar. These are the three major places in the state with a huge network of buses, and Patnitop can be reached from here. The journey from Jammu to Patnitop will take around three hours in an average, and bus fares will range around Rs 100 to 150. This is the locally preferred mode of travel.

Train : Jammu Tawi around 101 km from Patnitop has the nearest railway station. Jammu Tawi is connected to all major cities in India like Delhi (Jammu Rajdhani), Kolkata (Himgir Exp), Mumbai (Swarak Exp), Chennai (Andaman Exp) and even to the the southern most Trivandrum Railway station (Himsagar Exp).

Air : Srinagar, which is around 200 km from Patnitop has the nearest airport and is well connected to various cities.
