Bageshwar is a town that is situated in the Bageshwar district of the state of Uttarkhand. It is a scenic place and there are many important tourist sites that are located in and around the town. The town is increasingly becoming popular among many travelers in the region. Bageshwar is located at the confluence of the Gomti and Saryu Rivers and this is a good place to visit while visiting the area. The town is known for its many temples and many of these are located near the town center itself. Some of the temples located here date back to the 10th century. The most renowned temple in the place is the Bagnath Temple that is present near the meeting point of the rivers. Some of the main temples in the town are the Ganga Mai Temple, Durga Temple, Hanuman Temple, Bhairav Temple, Kalikka Temple, Panchnam Junnarka, Datatrey Maharaj, Vaneshwar Temple and a few others. The Thingal Bhairav Temple is also another important place in the town. Baijnath is a place that is situated around 26 km from the town and it is a popular place for excursions for many people in the area. There are many temples that one can visit here and these include temples dedicated to Shiva and Parvati. The monsoon season is during the months from July to September. The climate is humid and this is not a good time to visit the place. The months of October and November are the beginning of the peak tourist season.

Bageshwar, the ‘Abode of Gods’ is an important pilgrim and tourist centre. It is located about 90 kms from Almora on the confluence of the rivers Saryu and Gomti. The town is famous for ancient Bagnath Temple and the annual Uttaraini fair held in January.

Kathgodam is well connected with major destinations of India like Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata. Trains are frequent to Kathgodam as it is the gateway of Kumaon region.

Uttaryani Fair ; Venue:  Bageshwar ; Period :  Janurary 14th ; Details:  Every year Uttaryani Fair is organised on the occasion of Makar Sankranti ( Janurary 14th). The fair attracts huge crowds of devotees, as this place believed to be as pious as a holy dip in the Ganges at Varanasi. The confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomti & Bhagirathi have been regarded as a sacred place of pilgrimage for ages.
