Awala-Yalimapo could be a commune on the north coast of French Guiana, near the border with Surinam. The seat of the commune is that the settlement of Awala wherever the government building is found. Different settlements within the commune are: Yalimapo, Ayawande, and Piliwa. All of them ar Kali’na person of color villages.The commune of Awala-Yalimapo was created on one January 1989 by detaching its territory from the commune of Mana.
Awala and Yalimapo ar French Guiana’s northern-most settlements, set simply to the south of the région’s northern-most purpose, the beach of beach des Hattes, the World’s largest sea turtle nesting web site.
