The Daya River starts as a branch of the Kuakhai River at Saradeipur (near Badahati) in Odisha state in India. It is joined by the Malaguni River below Golabai and flows through Khordha and Puri districts before emptying into the north-eastern corner of Chilika Lake, 37 km (23 mi) km from its origin. The historically important Dhauli hills are located on the banks of the Daya River, 8 km (5.0 mi) south of Bhubaneswar. It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it, and has major edicts of Ashoka engraved on a mass of rock, by the side of the road leading to the summit of the hill. Dhauli hill is presumed to be the area where Kalinga War was fought.

There are certain festivals observed in this temple out of which ‘Saranti-Somobar-mela’ is the important one. There is a streem on the head Sivalinga playing the roal of the Ganges and linga, it self remains under the water. The water of holy India is circulated on the place and so the place is challenged as one of the holy places. The Vimala Temple or Bimala Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Vimala (Bimala), located within the Jagannath Temple complex in Puri. It is generally regarded as a Shakti Pitha, among the holiest temples dedicated to the Hindu Goddess. The temple is located in the south-west corner of the inner enclosure of the Jagannath temple complex and on the western corner of the tower of Jagannath, next to the sacred pond Rohini kunda. Vimala Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, another incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Gundicha temple is one of the most renowned temples in Puri, located on the northeastern side of the Jagannath temple. The origin of the temple can be traced back to the sixteenth century. During the Rath Yatra, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra are seated on ornately decorated chariots and taken to the Gundicha Mandir only. The deities stay there for a period of seven days and thereafter, come back to the Srimandir in a similar procession.The temple is thoroughly cleansed a day before the commencement of the Jagannath Rath Yatra.

Kanchi Ganesha Temple is a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha located inside the famous Jagannath Temple complex. As per legends this idol was gifted by King of Kanchi. The deity in the form of ‘Uchhista Ganapati’ is seen very rarely in the temples. Kanchi Ganesha Temple is just behind the main Jagannath Temple and has an iron fence to protect from monkeys. There is an idol of ‘Mooshika’ (mouse), the transporter of the Lord in front of the temple which devotees touch to fulfill their wishes. It is strange that the body of the ‘Mooshika’ is still prickly even after it has been touched by so many devotees. Devotees can conduct their own Puja to Lord Ganesha in this temple. Besides the temples of Lord Jagannath and Kanchi Ganesha there are many other temples dedicated to Gods Surya, Vimala, Saraswati, Bhuvaneshwari, Narasimha, Rama, Hanuman and Eshaneshwara inside the temple complex.
