Rajivalochana Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Literally meaning ‘the beautiful-eyed one’, the temple displays an example of Mahakosala architecture. On 12 pillars of the temple are carved, beautiful figures of Goddess Durga, Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama and Lord Narasimha.Located on the banks of the Mahanadi River, the temple has the chaitya arch window motif as the main design. Entrance to the shrine is adorned with sculptures of nagins (snake Goddesses). Rajim is probably the holiest place in Chattisgarh as it is situated at the eastern bank of Mahanadi river, just below its junction with Pairi and Sondhur rivers. Due to its location, on the junction of three rivers, it is often classified as Prayaga (Allahabad) of this region, Chattisgarh. Mahanadi enjoys the same status as that of Ganga in Chattisgarh hence taking bath and performing rituals at the bank Mahanadi is considered very sacred. Rajim-Mahatmya mentions that Mahanadi is known as Chitrotpala below its junction with Pairi and Utpalesvara before the junction. It is also believed that your journey to Jagannath Temple of Orissa is not complete if you do not visit Rajim. Mahashivaratri is celebrated with full faith and vigor. It used to be a show of three month in old days as perported by Beglar and Cunningham however at present the celebrations run for a month only.

Deobalod is famous for the ancient temple of Lord Shiva that dates to the 5th century. This sub-town of Charoda is also famous for the Sri Hanuman Mandir, Sri Kali Mandir, Sri Ram Mandir, Sri Jagannath Mandir, and St. Vincent Palloti Church. Beside the Lord Shiva Temple, a pond is located, which is believed to have an underground link to another old town in Chhattisgarh state named Arang. Temple of Ramachandra also called as Hazara Rama is in the heart of the palace grounds. This temple is devoted to Rama as an incarnation of Vishnu. The temple is of medium size, it has entrances in the east and north and has a low wall. The wall has a design of animals, musicians sculpted in many layers. This temple has a square Mandapa with three sided entrance like any other chalukya type temples. There are life size figures of amorous couples, flower bearers and angels decorating the pillars of the mandapa. The design also has a sense of southern type decorations. This temple holds a Amman Garbhagriha which was added later and holds more ornate sculpture than the rest of the temple walls.
