Lord Shiva Statue is an 85 feet tall Shiva Statue that has been installed by the T.K. Patil Banakatti Charitable Trust in Bijapur at Shivapur on Sindagi Road. It is slowly making as a pilgrimage location. 1,500 tonnes statue of Lord Shiva is considered as the second largest statue of Lord Shiva in India and was prepared by sculptors from Shimoga for above 13 months plus the civilian design was supplied by Bangalore-situated architects. It was unveiled on 26 February 2006 on the day of Shivarathri. It was designed by the civil engineers of Bangalore and was built by the sculptors of Shimoga. Beneath the statue, a small Shiva Linga has been placed.

The Archaeological Musuem collection comprises of stone inscriptions of Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit and Kannada languages in varied calligraphy; Brahmanical and Jaina sculptures; illustrated and plain paper manuscript in Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages; arms and weapons, Coins, China ware, wooden carvings, Maps and valuable ancient carpets, Sanads, farmans, miniature paintings and Bidri ware collected from Bijapur and its neighborhood. These are mainly acquired by way of exploration, debris clearance near the protected monuments, treasure trove, personal collection etc.The arched underground cellar of the museum building is used as Reserve Collection for stacking the stone antiquities. A running masonry pedestal is being constructed in the cellar for better arrangement of the stone antiquities for study and verification purpose. The collection, display techniques and the ideal location of the Museum in the Gol-Gumbaz, the outstanding architectural triumph (magnum opus contribution) of the Adilshahi Architects, have added to the importance of the Museum. From the point of view of collection and variety, it is only one of its kinds in Karnataka state and probably second and next only to the Salar Jung Museum at Hyderabad showcasing the Islamic Heritage in all its aspects.

The Archaeological Musuem was established in the year 1892 as a humble collection, grew to be a District Museum in 1912 with the objective of collecting, preserving and exhibiting all articles of Archaeological and other art specimens of the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the region. Subsequently it was taken over by the Archaeological Survey of India, from the then State Govt. of Mysore on 1962 with the intention of developing it as a site Museum. Thus it is one of the earliest site Museums to be established in India. The collection, display techniques and the ideal location of the Museum in the Gol-Gumbaz, the outstanding architectural triumph (magnum opus contribution) of the Adilshahi Architects, have added to the importance of the Museum. From the point of view of collection and variety, it is only one of its kinds in Karnataka state and probably second and next only to the Salar Jung Museum at Hyderabad showcasing the Islamic Heritage in all its aspects. Bijapur known with ancient name ‘Vijayapuri’ (City of Victory) is was the capital of the Adil- Shahi who ruled from A.D. 1489 to A.D. 1686 A number of religious, secular and defence structures built during the Adil-Shahi period are located in and around Bijapur. The town originally constructed by the King Adilshahi.
