Thalaiyar falls also known as rat tail falls located in the palani hills. The falls got the name of a Rat tail falls because it can be spotted as a silver line from a long distance on the way. It is 975ft (297m) tall and it is the highest waterfall in tamilnadu,the third highest in India and 267th Highest in the World. On a clear day rat tail falls is visible from the dum dum rock view point on the Batalugundu to kodaikanal Ghat Road 3.6 kms away to the west. It appers across the valley as a long thin white strip of cascading water on a background of black rock cliff face that just out of the foothills. The very edge at the top of the falls has a low concrete wall on either side concentrating the flow of water to focus the falls into a better rat tail shape. One can walk along the wall and get near the center of the falls. Just below one wall is a large flat rock about 5ft wide. One can get down to the edge of the rock to look directly straight down to see a little river at the bottom continuing placidly through the forest.The river water coming to the falls, though 9 km downstream from Perumal Malai village and apparently clear, may be polluted, and visitors to the area are advised to avoid drinking it. Hiking is allowed near the falls but only to their bottom and that too in the dry season, as there have been accidents when hiking to the top part of the falls. The hike usually begins at the Manjalar Dam proceeding along the path through the Mango orchards and potato fields around the Manjalar Reservoir and then goes up along the watercourse till the small shrine of Goddess Kamakshi.

The Telescope is located at the northern tip of the Coaker’s Walk. It was constructed so as to make it easier for tourists to have amazing view of the valley. Visitors get mesmerising view of the surrounding areas especially of Sothupparai Dam, Vaigai Dam, Periyakulam and Varaha River.
