Detail InformationEdit

Birla Mandir stands atop the Kala Pahad, the twin hillock of the Naubat Pahad. The Birlas (industrialists who have built several temples in India) built this temple in 1976. The temple has been built with white marbles from Rajasthan. Kausalya supraja Rama poorva sandhya pravartate… the mantra chanted to arouse Lord Venkateswara (Vishnu), to whom the temple is dedicated, can be heard at dawn. And as for the evenings, they are a treat to the ears in this hilltop temple. Sweet melodies of cuckoos and the kirtanas of Annamayya, Tyagaraja and Ramadas against the backdrop of an orange-red sky pleasantly soothe the soul.

Chilkur Balaji temple

India /Telangana /Hyderabad /Hyderabad

Chilkur Balaji Temple Rd, Chandanagar, Chilkur, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh 501504 Edit

Detail InformationEdit

Chilkur Balaji Temple popularly known as Visa Balaji Temple or Visa God is an ancient Hindu temple of Lord Balaji on the banks of Osman Sagar Lake near Hyderabad, India. It is one of the oldest temples in Hyderabad built during the time of Madanna and Akkanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramadas. The shrine is instrumental for the temple’s popularity as Visa God. This temple does not accept any money, does not have a hundi, from the devotees, no green channel or privileges for VVIPs. The other such temple is the Jalaram temple in Virpur (Rajkot), Gujarat. This temple fought and won the right to stay out of government control. The only other such temple is “Ramanuj Kot”, a temple in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Chilkur Balaji Temple, Hyderabad

Chilkur Balaji Temple, Hyderabad

HistoryEdit

Chilkur Balaji Temple is one of the most ancient Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Balaji. The architecture of the temple suggests that it was built almost 500 years ago. Located in idyllic surroundings, the temple acts as a sequestered retreat and attracts a lot of devotees who come to find peace and quietude. The temple sees more devotees especially during the auspicious days of Annakota, Poolangi and Brahmothsavams. Legend says that on a certain devotee’s inability to fulfil his annual visit to Tirupati, Lord Venkateshwara himself appeared in his dreams and hinted at a nearby jungle where the devotee could find him. On reaching the designated spot the devotee found a molehill and started digging. Accidentally the axe struck the idol twice, and copious amounts of blood started flowing on the ground. A voice instructed the horrified devotee to flood the place with cow’s milk, accomplishing which led to the emergence of a rare Swayambhu idol of the Lord with Bhoodevi and Shridevi. This idol was installed with all the rites and rituals and the Chilkur Balaji Temple was built around it. Interestingly the deity is also referred to as the ‘Visa’ God since most of the prayers inside the temple are Visa-related. The unique features of this temple is that it does not accept any money from the devotees, there are no special access given to VIPs and is not under the government control. Though there are not many scriptures present about this temple.

HistoryEdit

Ashtalakshmi Temple is a popular Hindu temple of Goddesses Ashtalakshmi in Hyderabad, India. This magnificent temple dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi stands distinctly on the outskirts of the city. Ashta Lakshmi Temple is significant for its unique idols of Goddess Lakshmi, which are made of sand and cement. The idols were consecrated by Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swami, the Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, in the year 1996. Amidst the varied Islamic architectural monuments in the area, this temple has a different style ; a touch of south Indian architecture. Among the Hindu pantheon, the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, finds a special place in the hearts of the people for she brings prosperity and happiness as well as salvation. But very few temples have Goddess Lakshmi in her eight splendorous forms.

Keesara Gutta temple

India /Telangana /Hyderabad /Hyderabad

Keesara Gutta temple is situated in Keesara village, Ranga Reddy District, which is about 13 km away from Hyderabad.. Edit

Detail InformationEdit

Keesara Gutta temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consorts, Shivadurga and Bhavani. There is an interesting story about how the temple got its name. To atone for his sins in killing Ravana, Lord Rama chose this beautiful valley to establish a Shivalinga. He asked Hanuman to bring him a Shivalinga. As the auspicious hour was almost at an end without any sign of Hanuman, Lord Shiva himself appeared and presented Rama with a Shivalinga. Hence the Shivalinga in the temple is also called Swayambulinga and Ramalingeshwara. Meanwhile, unable to find out the perfect Shivalingam, Hanuman returned with 101 Shivalingas for Rama to select. On seeing the installed Shivalinga, he became upset and threw the ones he carried. One can still see the scattered Shivalingas around the temple. In an attempt to mellow down Hanuman, Rama promised him that he would be the first one to be worshipped here, and the hillock on which the temple would stand, will bear his name–Kesarigiri. However, the pronunciation changed with time, to become Keesaragutta.

The linga of the presiding deity of Keesara Gutta Temple, Lord Ramalingeshwara, is believed to be the manifestation of Lord Shiva himself. There are 101 lingas of varying heights within the temple complex, which are believed to be installed by Lord Hanuman. As per folklore, one who prays these 101 Shivalingas would get blessings of all 330 million gods.
