Makarpura Palace is three-storeyed palaces’ main feature was its Japanese styled 130-acre garden, that was designed by creator of Royal biology gardens, Kew, William Goldring, with a swimming pool and lake with swans. Makarpura Palace of Gaekwad was inbuilt the year 1870 by maharajah Khende Rao and was extended and restored by maharajah Sayajirao Gaekwad III. Designed in Italian style, the Makarpura palace is now used as a training school by the Indian Air Force. Kirti Mandir is a wonderful stone building with domes, terraces and balconies contains a central sikhara rising to a height of about 33 metres and also the interior is fully polished with marble.
