Pavuralakonda hillock, excavations of the site believed to be dated between 3rd C.B.C. and 2nd C.A.D. revealed nearly 14-16 rock-cut troughs or cisterns used for collecting rainwater, foundations of viharas, with cells and common verandah, circular chaityagrihas, votive stupas, halls etc. The river Gosthani which flows nearby Pavuralakonda served as navigation canal for inland trade in the early centuries of the Christian era.

The park was built keeping children in mind and has enough activities to keep them entertained throughout the day. VUDA Park offers boating and swimming facilities, a roller skating rink, camel and horse riding, artificial caves, beautiful long lawns, flower gardens and a children’s park and a gymnasium. The children’s playpen is a great hit with the children with a 3000 ball covered area and boxing bags available to play with. The roller skating ring is in accordance with international standards and was one of the venues for the 32nd National Games. Visakha Museum has historical treasures and artifacts of the region. The museum is housed in 150 year old architecturally impressive Dutch Bungalow. It was opened in 1991. The collections in the museum include ancient armory, crockery, coins, silk costumes, jewelry, stuffed animals, portraits, Shell of an unexploded bomb dropped by the Japanese during World War II, manuscripts, letters, diaries, scrap books as well as periodicals, maps etc which chronicle the lives of the early settlers.

Visakha Museum was set up at the Dutch Bungalow which itself has volumes of history to speak about. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority took over the Bungalow during the 1980’s and though of developing it to a Five Star Hotel. Members from the Visakha Historical Society and the general public of Vizag loves to have the building to be a Museum and thus the works for the re-designing of the Bungalow began. The Museum was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. N Janardhana Reddy on the 8th of October 1991.

Submarine Museum, also known as Smritika. It is the only submarine museum operated in India, and as such is the primary repository for artifacts relating to Submarine. INS Kursura the fourth submarine of the Indian Navy has now been converted into a museum, which is the first one of its kind in this subcontinent. The complete submarine including her weapon package was hauled up from sea to land and positioned on concrete foundation. The museum contains milestones of the evolution of the submarine arm chronicled through artifacts, photographs and written scripts. The museum has been established with the aim of show casing the glory of the submarine arm and presenting to every one a glimpse of the life inside a submarine and the hardships encountered by the submariner at sea. The museum also beckons the people to delve deep into the history of the Indian Submarines and motivates the youth to be a part of this elite arm of the Indian Navy.

Kondakarla Ava Beach is surrounded by lush green vegetation and hills, the beach is dotted with green coconut groves and coarse white sands. Being a natural habitat of numerous species of marine life, the beach attracts many migratory birds during summer season. Besides, fishing, boat rides, catamaran sailing and kayaking are the prominent activities carried out at the beach. Another prominent location nearby is the Tyda village, which is surrounded by lush green forests. The place serves as an ideal location for birdwatching, hiking and trekking. Gangavaram Beach and the Yarada Beach are the prominent beaches located in close vicinity of this village. Apart from these, Kondakarla Lake is a popular tourist attraction for nature lovers. Being the biggest freshwater lake in the state, the lake houses various species of birds including Pochards, Storks, Herons, Cormorants and Egrets.

From Visakhapatnam you can travel south towards Anakapalle ( 40 KM ) on NH5 and take a left turn towards Atchutapuram on Haripalem Road. After travelling 6 KM on Haripalem road the village road will be at your left. From here Lake is 2 KM through Kondakarla village. The other parallel road goes out from NH5 at Gajuwaka and passes through Kanithi road, Steel plant township , Des Pathrunipalem, Parawada, Atchutapuram Junction and from here right side road is Haripalem road going towards Anakapalle. On this road after travelling 4 KM from Atchutapuram Junction is the village road at your right to Kondakarla. This road from Gajuwaka straight goes towards Elamanchili and joins NH5. From Atchutapuram to NH 5 joining near Elamanchili is 21 KM.

Mangamaripeta Beach is a popular beach located in vicinity of Visakhapatnam. It is believed that the region was under the kingdom of Kalingas and later the beach was used to serve as the promotional centre of Buddhism. The beach is popular for Thotlakonda, a hill embracing a Buddhist complex. Located at an elevation of 128 m, the complex was discovered by an aerial survey conducted by the Indian Navy. Attracting many nature and adventure lovers, the beach is famous for its natural surroundings and adventurous water sports.
