The ornithologist Park Historic District is found on 5 blocks within the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, the big apple town, between West one hundred fifty five Street and West 158th Street, and between Broadway and Edward M. Morgan Place on the east and Riverside Drive West on the west. It consists of nineteen giant living accommodations buildings and one house, and abuts the ornithologist Terrace Historic District on the southeast.
It is named for naturalist John James ornithologist, UN agency purchased twenty acres of land there in 1841, at a time once the realm was still principally farms, ground and also the country estates of the wealthy. When his death, the estate was sold-out off in parcels for development by Audubon’s widow, that is once it became referred to as “Audubon Park”. The realm was selected AN historic district by the the big apple town Landmarks Preservation Commission on might twelve, 2009.
