Ann Arbor was supported in 1824, with one theory stating that it’s named when the spouses of the city’s founders and for the stands of trees within the space. The University of Michigan captive from metropolis to Ann Arbor in 1837, and therefore the town showed steady growth throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with a decline throughout the Depression of 1873.
