Anjuna Flea market was originally started in 1970’s by the foreigners who wanted to sell off their second-hand goods like cameras, watches, clothes etc. Now it has emerged as one of the major attractions of Goa. This market is full of Tibetan craft stalls, Nepalese and Kashmiri artefacts including jewellery, stones, rock bottom priced clothes, Variety of bags, bakery items (cakes, strudel and breads). Other stalls include Tattoing (both permanent & Mehndi), hair cutting etc.
HistoryEdit
The village was later ceded to the Portuguese by the Bijapur sultans in 1543. Anjuna has produced a series of outstanding personalities, But the most famous of them probably the Venerable Fr. Angelo. Fr. Angelo Gustav Desouza was born in this village and later joined the Missionary Society of Pilar where he earned a name for himself.Where historical monuments are concerned, two buildings stand out: One is the church of ST. Michael and the other is the Albuquerque Mansion. ST. Michael’s church was first established in 1603 and later rebuilt on a grander scale in 1613.

Taxi : The Anjuna beach is located 8 km west of Mapusa town and 18 km from Panaji. Tourists can also hire motorcycle taxis and auto-rickshaws from Mapusa to reach Anjuna.
Bus : Kadamba bus stand of Panaji is the main bus station. The state owned bus services of states Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka operate from this station. These buses connect cities in Goa to in and out of the state Goa. Super deluxe A/C buses are available from Mumbai (580 km) and from Bangalore (650 km). It will cost around Rs 1500 to 2000.
Train : The major railway stations in Goa are Margao, also known as Madgaon and Vasco-da-gama. These stations are in the Konkan railway line and are directly connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and other parts of the country.
Air : The Goa international airport is located at Dabolim, which is at a distance of 29 km away from Panaji. The airport connects the domestic cities as well as international cities in U.K. and Germany. Daily services are also available from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and other important cities of India.
