Amistad could be a little unorganised community in Union County, New Mexico, U.S. it’s placed regarding thirty-nine miles south of Clayton on New Mexico thruway 402. Amistad was a stop for oxen drives throughout the late nineteenth century. In 1906, Henry S. Wannamaker, a Congregational minister, promoted homesteading by inserting ads in church newspapers.
