Amir Kabir dam, conjointly referred to as Karaj dam, may be a dam in Persia, placed sixty three kilometres (39 mi) northwest of Iranian capital and twenty three kilometres (14 mi) north of Karaj. Ameer kabir Dam was created on the Karaj watercourse, and was the primary multi-purpose dam in Persia.
The initial studies for Amirkabir Dam took twenty two years till 1956 once formal proceedings began and therefore the dam was created within the amount from 1957 to 1961.
The ameer kabir Dam was engineered as a multi-purpose dam to supply H2O for Iranian capital aboard agricultural development in Karaj. It provides the irrigation demand of over fifty,000 hectares (120,000 acres) of farm land close to Karaj. The ability plant has been connected to the national electricity network for over forty six years and features a capability of ninety megawatts. The lake behind the dam may be a touristic attraction whereas being a natural home ground for rainbow trout. With its sailing and water sport facilities, the dam may be a standard weekend summer resort.
