Alluitsoq is that the name of a former settlement in southern Kalaallit Nunaat, settled on the Alluitsoq or Lichtenau inlet close to Cape Farewell. It’s concerning seven kilometers from Ammassivik (Sletten), settled on the other aspect of a similar inlet. It had been based as Lichtenau (German: “Light Water”) by the Moravian missionary Gotfried Grillich and 5 families in 1774.
For a time, it had been the most important permanent settlement in Kalaallit Nunaat. The mission was given to the Protestant denomination of Scandinavian country in 1900.The site features a giant land site and was used as a children’s home for the Gertrud philologist Institute between 1942 and 1980. The inlet separates in 2 at the top. One homes the most important body of water in Kalaallit Nunaat, Qorlortorsuaq, and a trout farm. The opposite holds a Norse farm’s ruins.
