Allauch is a French commune situated east of Marseille in the department of Bouches-du-Rhone in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region of France. Its inhabitants are called Allaudians. Allauch is an administrative center of the canton of the Bouches-du-Rhone. It is a part of the communaute urbaine Marseille Provence Metropole. The commune numbered 19,057 inhabitants at the 2006 census.
It is 12 kilometer away from the center of Marseille, 35 kilometer from Aix-en-Provence. Allauch-Village, the historic center of the commune, contains only a small part of the city’s population (2,594 in 2006). The most urbanized other neighborhoods or village centers are: the Logis-Neuf (7,224 inhabitants), La Pounche (3 360 habitants), Fontvieille, Pie d’Autry. Nonetheless, in reality the urban poles of Allauch join Marseille and Plan-de-Cuques.
