In 1894, Algona, at the side of alternative Iowa communities like Dysart and Wesley, became a part of the project referred to as the “Orphan Trains”. As big apple town saw booming immigration, it conjointly inevitably saw an increase within the range of orphans in its asylums. Between 1869 and 1875 the community was the situation of Algona school, an establishment sponsored by the Methodists. Algona was supported in 1854 by 2 brothers, theologist and Asa decision, United Nations agency named the town once the native word for “Algonquin waters”.
