Alandi, also known as Devachi Alandi – God’s place, is a cute hamlet perfectly placed on the scenic banks of the river Indrayani. The temples adorning the village culture and life are Vitthal-Rakhumai temple, Muktai temple, Krishna Temple and Ram temple. The village enshrines another temple dedicated to a renowned Gujarathi saint Jalasan Baba. The fairs held in Alandi twice a year are major draws. The fairs are held on kartik ekadashi and ashadhi ekadashi. Alandi is the center of Palakhi festival, an annual religious ceremony in the month of Ashadh. Alandi is a marvelous picturesque location to spend the vacations and evenings in solitude. With all the beauty of the village life, the stay in Alandi rejuvenates the mind and body. Unpolluted fresh air, cool climate and serene environments make Alandi and Indrayani River shore grandeur locations to spend time in solitude. HistoryEdit

The place is renowned with the religious importance through the samadhi of the saint poet Dnyaneshwar. The place became famous after famous sage Dnyaneshwar moved here and stayed till the end of his life. Sage Dnyaneshwar holds a prominent place in the history of Maharashtra as he is credited with popularizing the worship of lord Panduranga in the entire region through his religious sermons and speeches. It was here that he wrote his famous holly book Dnyaneshwari. Alandi has also the distinction of having a prehistoric collection of Shivling. In one of the Saint Dnyaneshwar’s verses he speaks of it being called “Siddheshwar”. The name of the reigning deity of the place as also one of the names of Shiva. He states then that a collection of eighty-four Sidhas meet or exist here. Under a dense green and flower laden canopy emitting a heavenly fragrance and birds singing celestial tunes. This stanza is to be found in Saint Dnyaneshwar’s book about the power of chanting Hari’s name. The book is called Haripath. Even till this day Haripath is recited by countless rich and poor in Maharashtra. They experience its beauty and believe in its powers as also in the person who created them.

By Air : There is no airport at Alandi. Nearest airport to Alandi is at Pune which is at a distance of 25 km away from Alandi.Pune Taxi charge from airport to city is only Rs 300. Regular flights are available from Pune to many airports in India. Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai are all well connected by air. Pune Airport: 020 2668 5201.

By Train : Alandi does not have a train station, and the nearest station is Pune, at a distance of 16 kms from Alandi. Pune is an important railway junction connected to all major railheads in India. Pune Railway statino ph.no:- 02026126575.

By BUS : Alandi is well connected by State owned road transports. Luxury coach buses are available up to Pune from all major cities in Maharashtra and Goa. The distance between Pune and Mumbai is only about 200 km and tourist buses charge about Rs 400 for one way travel.

Kartiki Ekadashi festival ; Venue:  Samadhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar. ; Period :  July Or August ; Details:  Thousands of Warkaris (pilgrims) have gathered in Alandi for the 714th Sanjeevan Samadhi Sohola (pilgrimage) of Sant Dnyaneshwar, which is coinciding with the holy month of Kartik on Thursday. The four-day yatra of pilgrims from across Maharashtra will culminate on December 4, which will be marked with visits to Sant Dnyaneshwar’s samadhi.
