Alampur also known as Alampuram is a temple town that is situated in the Mahbubnagar District in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Alampur is famous as it is the meeting point of two scared rivers. Krishna and Tungabadra are the two rivers that meet at the town. The town is situated on the bank of the Tungabadra River and is also surrounded by hills on all sides. Alampur is well known for its various temples and many devotees flock to the town to visit the temple. The temples are renowned for their beauty and have been constructed many years ago. Alampur is famous for the Navabhrama Temples that are located around the city. There are nine temples in total and they are visited many people throughout the year. The temples are renowned for being a mix of Western and Northern architectural styles. These temples were built by the Badami rulers who were the principle rulers in this area for a long time. There are many other temples that can be seen in the area and they are decorated with bright colors during the festive seasons. There are many good sculptures that are present in the temple.

Alampur place was earlier known as Halampuram aka Alampuram. Some inscriptions dating back to Chalukyan King Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI, mentions the name of the place as Halampura. Alampur region was ruled by the Chalukyan kings. Their reign started with Vijayaditya (696-733) and ended with Kirtivarma (744-755). During this period, they constructed the Nava Brahmeswara Temples (nine temples of Lord Shiva) near the southern banks of Tungabhadra River and several Other Temples in the vicinity.

By Air : There is no airport in Alampur. but The closest airport is located at Hyderabad and there are frequent flights available to other major cities. Hyderabad is also an international airport and there are flights arriving daily from various countries. Alampur is located around 200 km from the city and there are frequent buses and taxis that are available from the airport. Prepaid taxis from the airport are available and they charge around Rs 2500 for the trip.
By Train : Alampur has a railway station that is located in the town. The station has very few trains that are passing through and it may not be a good option. Kurnool is the closest railway station that has daily train services. There are taxis that are available from Kurnool to the town. Taxis usually charge around Rs 7 per km and are the best option.
By BUS : Bus services are available from Hyderabad. These are a good option as the buses are cheap and can be hailed from the main bus terminus. Government buses may be crowded. Tickets are cheap and they cost around Rs 50.
