Akola City is located in the north central part of Maharashtra state , western India, on the banks of Murna River and it is an important district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra State. The city is known for its many cotton production centers and it is also a hub for medical tourism and the infrastructure is well developed. Akola is an ancient city and there are many significant historical sites that are located here. There are many forts that can be seen in and around the place and visiting them can be an enlightening experience. The Akola Fort is one of the major attractions of the place and the fort is a site that one must visit when visiting the city. There are many inscriptions that can be seen in the fort and there is an old Shiva Temple that is also located in the fort. The Rajeshwari Mandir attracts many visitors. There are many contradictory inscriptions that can be seen the fort and each claim that different people built the fort. The other major attractions include the Narnala Fort, Akol Fort and the Balapur Fort. Narnala is a hill fort that is located nearby and it is worth visiting the place while travelling to the city of Akola.

By Air : The Akola airport is a domestic airport and there are only limited flights from this place. The nearest airport is located at Nagpur and there are regular flights available to other major cities. this airport is located around 250 km from the city and one can hire a taxi from the airport to the city of Akola. Taxis charge around Rs 7 per km and this is the easiest option to reach the place.

By Train : Akola railway station is an important station in the state and there are regular services from many cities. The station has good connectivity to places such as Bikaner, Jaipur, Pune, Indore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmadabad, Chennai, Howrah and many other cities.
