Afetes is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 1,838 (2001). The seat of the municipality was in Neochori. The name dates back to ancient times.The municipal unit Afetes is subdivided into the following communities (constituent villages in brackets).The Pelion mountains dominate the area, a valley covers the central portion, and farmlands are within the village which produce fruit, olives and vegetables. The Pagasetic Gulf dominates the western portion.
