The Admiral’s home is settled within the Nolan Park space of Governors Island in the big apple Harbor. Governors Island was a U.S. Army post alternately called Fort Columbus and Fort Jay and headquarters from the decade till one965 once the structure was called the Commanding Officer’s Quarters or Quarters 1. In 1966 the island became a U.S. Coast Guard base and headquarters for its Atlantic space Command and also the house obtained its newer name.
Constructed within the 1843 associate degreed with an addition in 1884, it served because the home of the island’s highest ranking military officer it’s served because the home of many notable generals together with Jonathan waggonwright, director Bedell Smith, and Winfield Scott John Hancock, United Nations agency ran for president whereas living here.
